Taking into account the new requirements for packaging recycling and sustainable solutions, thereby promoting compliance with European Union regulations on waste reduction in Latvia, this year as well, Latvijas Zaļais punkts together with the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies and the Latvian Packaging Association is organizing the seminar “Sustainable Packaging: From Design to Recycling 2025.”
The event will take place on April 24 at 10:00 AM in the LBTU Aula in Jelgava. Its goal is to provide insight into current challenges and opportunities, as well as to foster discussions on the necessary changes for businesses and society to adapt to new regulations.
The seminar will feature environmental and packaging industry experts, including representatives from the Ministry of Climate and Energy, Latvijas Zaļais punkts, the Latvian Packaging Association, the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies, Eco Baltia vide, and others. The discussions will cover several key topics, including:
Establishing a sustainable packaging system – restructuring the existing system to promote more efficient resource use and reduced environmental impact;
The reality and possibilities of plastic packaging recycling – ensuring high-quality and efficient packaging recycling in Latvia;
Packaging diversity – an obstacle or an opportunity? – challenges and solutions related to various packaging materials for sustainable development;
A roadmap for a plastic pollution-free society by 2030 – vision and practical steps for both businesses and consumers.
The event will also include broader discussions on packaging quality control, recyclable and non-recyclable plastic packaging, and practical strategies for businesses to adapt to the new regulations.
