Farmers invited to submit data on food waste generated!

23.02.2024

We invite you to support researchers by filling out a survey on the amount of food waste generated in agriculture!

The study "Development of a methodology for determining the amount of food waste generated, data collection, summarization and analysis, report preparation and presentation" is being implemented by order of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development (MEPRD). Researchers from Rīga Stradiņš University and Ltd. "Jaunrades laboratorija" will investigate the problems faced by farmers after harvest, the reasons why crops cannot be sold and what happens to damaged production. The data collected will be used to find solutions to reduce and prevent the amount of food waste generated.

If you grow carrots, beets, potatoes or other vegetables on your farm in Latvia, the survey is available here:

If you grow apples, strawberries or currants on your farm in Latvia, the survey is available here:

If you grow wheat on your farm in Latvia, the survey is available here:

Reducing food waste is possible if we all act responsibly!
