Eco Baltia Vide Enters the Second-Hand Electronics Market and Opens a New Store

20.01.2025

Eco Baltia Vide, a leading Latvian environmental resource management company, continues to expand its operations by entering the second-hand electronics market with the opening of a specialized store, Lab!veikals. This store offers customers the opportunity to purchase used and refurbished electronic devices at prices 30–50% lower than new ones, providing a cost-effective and sustainable alternative.

Lab!veikals is a continuation of Eco Baltia vide's initiative launched last year under the European Union’s LIFE project, which saw the establishment of the Lab! electronics repair workshop. Both the workshop and the store serve as tools to return worn-out devices back into circulation, thereby reducing electronic waste and CO₂ emissions.

The store offers a variety of repaired and upgraded electronic devices, from laptops and mobile phones to household appliances. These products undergo both technical improvements and aesthetic restoration. In addition to electronics, Lab!veikals also offers items made from recycled materials, including clothing, home decor, and jewelry crafted by local artisans.

Jānis Aizbalts, Chairman of the Board of Eco Baltia Vide, emphasizes:"With Lab!veikals, we are introducing a solution that combines economic value with responsible consumption. Year after year, the amount of e-waste grows, but we also see an increasing desire for sustainable living, reflected in everyday decisions. Studies show that 60% of Latvians are open to purchasing used electronics if the offer is financially beneficial. Lab!veikals delivers exactly that – quality, warranty, and affordability, promoting a societal shift toward more sustainable consumption.”

In addition to electronic devices, Lab!veikals features unique products made from recycled materials, such as paintings by SIA “Svinību un izklaides aģentūra BALLE,” wooden clocks and lamps with reclaimed wood by Matīss Mickus, designer clothing made from discarded textiles by SIA "Pārtapis," eco-fire starters crafted from egg cartons by the social enterprise SIA "Visi Var," bags from repurposed clothing, and items such as coasters and flower pots. Contributions also come from the students of the RTU Design Factory and Riga Art and Media Technical School.

Lab!veikals is located at 240 Latgales Street, Riga, and is open:

·       Wednesday to Friday: 12.00–19.00

·       Saturday: 12.00–17.00
