On 19 and 20 August 2026, a training and experience-sharing seminar for educators took place, bringing together around 50 Eco-Schools educators from across Latvia.
On the first day of the seminar, educators had the opportunity to take part in various educational activities. Maija Krastiņa from the association Zero Waste Latvija spoke about environmentally friendly household practices, while Ieva Lanka from the Foundation for Environmental Education shared practical actions that everyone can take in their daily lives to create positive change. Participants also had the opportunity to make natural cosmetics under the guidance of certified cosmetologist and aromatherapist Sarmīte Kauliņa.
On the second day, Eco-Schools Programme Manager Daniels Trukšāns presented the results achieved within the “From Waste to Resources” project. Two workshops were held: a fermentation workshop led by Lāsma Ozola, a Board Member of the Latvian Association of Organic Agriculture, and a workshop on making environmentally friendly gifts led by Kristīne Krīgere, a teacher at Zaķumuiža Primary School. The seminar concluded with an educational hike around the Garezeri lakes, led by nature researcher Uvis Suško.
