A series of seminars “On the Way to Action: Circular Economy and Waste Management in the Municipality” is taking place

22.08.2025

Within the framework of the LIFE Integrated Project “Waste To Resources Latvia - boosting regional sustainability and circularity”, the Ministry of Climate and Energy is continuing the seminar series on circular economy and waste management in municipalities, which was launched last year. Four seminars in Salaspils, Valmiera, Rēzekne, and Kuldīga will provide an opportunity for specialists from municipalities, companies, and non-governmental organizations to expand their knowledge and acquire practical skills.

The aim of the seminar series is to enhance knowledge and provide practical skills to specialists from municipalities, state institutions, regional waste management centers, waste management companies, and NGOs working in the fields of circular economy and waste management. The seminars will also offer opportunities for experience exchange and discussions on effective and sustainable waste management.

Special attention will be paid to the implementation of sustainable procurement, effective and inclusive public communication, strengthening cooperation among stakeholders involved in waste management at the local level, as well as the development of circular centers in municipalities.

The seminars will take place in four different locations across Latvia, each focusing on a specific practical issue related to improving local-level waste management or advancing the implementation of the circular economy.

Seminar format: Participants will not only attend presentations but will also be invited to actively take part in group work. At the conclusion of each seminar, participants will have the opportunity to visit sites recognized as good practice examples in the fields of waste management or circular economy implementation. Participation in the seminars is free of charge, but the number of places is limited.
