With the start of the cycling season and garden planting, we invite you to join us on May 10th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the courtyard of the Art Space “Mala” at 11 Lenču Street, Cēsis, for a bike flea market and green thumb workshop. Participants can leave their bikes for sale or donation at the cultural space “Mala” starting from 3:00 PM, while the bike market will take place from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Program Highlights:
During the event, the green thumb workshop will be active, where you can sow local plant varieties. Visitors are encouraged to bring and share their own plants and leftover plant pots, leaving them at the plant and pot exchange point.
At 6:00 PM, Daina Mūrniece, the coordinator of the Heirloom Plants and Seed Stewardship Movement from the Latvian Permaculture Association, will give a talk on seed stewardship, seed exchange, and its importance. Participants will have the opportunity to learn the essentials of collecting seeds from cultivated plants.
“We continue to increase opportunities for Cēsis residents to practice zero-waste lifestyle principles – refuse, reduce, reuse, recycle, and compost. We invite the residents of Cēsis to be active and participate in events that promote resource conservation, reuse, and self-sufficiency in the Cēsis region, which is part of the newly established Gauja National Park bioregion,” says Lāsma Ozola, Head of the Zero Waste Community and Activity Coordinator for Cēsis Municipality.
